This is what we've done so far!

One day delayed we finally started our journey! On our way to Stockholm we met up with mom at her work. When we finally reached Stockholm we realized that a big city ain't made to bicycle through. It was super stressful, loads of roads to choose from and moreover bicycle chains didn't want to cooperate. Despite the chains bad behavior, we have made it to Nyköping! But we're not done for today, so hopefully we'll be in another city when it's time for bed.

Day 1: We went from Häggvik to Tumba, that's about 44 km. When we got to Tumba, our amazing cousin Magnus and his beautiful wife Mia let us spend the night in their home (thank you!).

Day 2: We went from Tumba to Nynäs naturreservat, and that's about 80 km. When we left Tumba, Mia guided us to make it out of there, and we could not have done it without her!!

Here are some pictures from our trip so far:

This is where we met up with mom :)

As you can see - big roads in Stockholm, but not for bikes

"Close the gate
think about the kids"
This reminded Sammy of a swedish tv show called "Arga snickaren". So funny.

The room we slept in at Magnus at Mias place

 Breakfast in Tumba, yummie!

We're getting ready to leave Tumba

We took a ferry boat to Mörkö

Time for a well needed lunch break

Pasta and broccoli, that's a good lunch :)

Jenny is daydreaming, as usual....

We made it to Trosa! "The worlds end"

Sammy is making his prettiest face on a bridge in Trosa

"Krilles gatukök" in Trosa
this picture is for you dad :D

We're about to make it to Nyköping!

When we woke up this morning, we had a beautiful view... of grass....

 Lunch break in Nyköping
Pleace notice the gas station (where you can buy food) in the background.
Then look at what we're doing... Making food! Not buying, but cooking!!

So this is what we have been up to so far :)

PS. We must say a big thank you to the worlds greatest friend ever, Melinda (obviously), for the help! You mean the world to us. DS.

Pamper shorts and waterproof tests

We weren't sure (and still aren't) about the quality of our tent. Therefore we used the water hose to test it. It did pass the water test, but the day afterwards one of the tent pegs broke...

When we tell our friends that we are leaving for France on bicycles, one of the first question is: Ouch! Dont you think your ass will hurt tremendous?
We also had some concerns about this issue and therefore we were happy to see that bicycling pants have built-in pampers :)

Preparations

When we got the idea for the trip we didn't have anything at hand, so during three weeks we have prepared everything. We have bought bicycles, sleeping bags, ground sheets, water bottles etc. Basically everything you can think of! We will try to post a list later of everything that we have packed. Stay tuned! :)

The Victorious Plan

Sammy and me, Jenny, have decided to bicycle from Häggvik, Stockholm to Bordeaux in France during the summer 2012.
According to the mighty google maps, the route is around 2500km. We hope to reach Bordeaux within five weeks, but if we realize that we won't make it, we will try to swallow our pride and take a bus.
On our way we will pass Trosa, Karlskrona, Malmö, Trelleborg, Rostock, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Bryssels and Nantes. For a more detailed overview, check out the following link: Resväg

Wish us luck!
